Astrinova is founded and written by Capt. Baset, a former airline captain with over twenty years in aviation who left that career for independent science writing. His interest in physics goes back to childhood, sparked by a fascination with radio waves and the basic question of how something could travel through a vacuum at all, a question that would later open the door to quantum physics. That early curiosity ran alongside a career in aviation, where twenty years of flying meant twenty years working alongside aerodynamics, mechanics, and the physical principles that keep an aircraft in the air. He later returned to physics more broadly through disciplined self-study, working through Leonard Susskind's Theoretical Minimum series and MIT's OpenCourseWare, the same foundational material used in university physics programs.
That combination, a childhood question about radio waves, two decades of hands-on exposure to applied physics in the cockpit, and a rigorous, structured approach to formal learning, shapes how Astrinova writes: concepts are explained clearly and precisely, without assuming the reader already knows the jargon, but never at the cost of accuracy.
